ImagInk Printed Glass

ImagInk is our large format glass printing process, capable of reproducing full colour photography, vector graphics and even textures directly onto glass with pinpoint accuracy. Containing sub micron glass particles and inorganic pigments, ceramic inks are used in printing which are lead and cadmium free, enabling superior light fastness with extreme weather performance.

Our workflow is completely digital, eliminating current limitations within screen printing and allowing full manipulation of layer thickness and dot placement. Single or multicolour printing is possible in one or multiple passes, and custom ink options are available to simulate acid etching.

The digital glass printing process

The printing process involves direct application of the ceramic inks to the glass surface. This means there are no interlayers required, which reduces production time and cost. Once printed, the glass is then toughened in our furnace, a process that causes the ceramic inks to fuse permanently to the surface of the glass.

Following toughening, the printed glass can be laminated, painted or even double glazed if required. The process of printing directly on to the glass is both time and cost efficient, and opens up creative options for artists and designers such as installing the printed surface exposed to reduce reflectivity.

UV and scratch resistant

With the ability for designs to be scaled for small scale specialty projects or large scale multi-pane developments, the scratch and fade resistant properties of the ceramic inks are perfect for external applications such as public art installations, building facades and signage applications. All ImagInk glass is supported by our 25 year warranty against fading and discolouration from UV damage.

ImagFilm printed interlayers offer unrivalled resolution and colour accuracy for artistic and photographic applications on glass.

ImagFilm™ is the ideal medium for artists and photographers who are looking to reproduce their artworks onto a glass canvas. ImagFilm is produced using a high resolution printed interlayer, laminated between two pieces of glass. This specialised interlayer is printed using a CMYK colour process, and can reproduce any image in stunning detail at a resolution of up to 1200dpi.

ImagFilm is currently recommended for indoor use only, however outdoor applications are possible and are guaranteed for up to 5 years against fading and discolouration. We are currently undergoing accelerated testing with the aim of increasing longevity outdoors. Artists and photographers interested in outdoor applications may prefer to use our ImagInk printed glass.
